Before Cairo’s one-month portraits in a cream knitted outfit, I photographed his family’s maternity session at Stanley Park in New Britain. The mother in the beige dress and the baby in the cream knits belong to the same family story. These photographs bring those two chapters together.

Maternity at Stanley Park in New Britain
The maternity photographs include the whole family: walking beneath the blossoming trees, coming together for a hug and making room for individual portraits. Beige and cream clothing sits softly against the green lawn and the trees, keeping the attention on the people in the frame.
I photographed the mother on her own beside a tree as well. The wider family photographs and the individual portraits hold different parts of this stage: the people waiting together, and the mother at the center of it.
A tiny outfit before the first baby portraits
One maternity photograph has the parents holding up a small baby outfit between them. It gives this part of the story a detail to return to: clothes held up in anticipation, followed by photographs of Cairo himself in his first month.
Cairo at one month
For Cairo’s one-month portraits, white bedding and a cream knitted outfit make a much closer, quieter setting. The hood frames Cairo’s face, the wooden milestone plaque marks the month, and the photographs move between Cairo’s expressions and the tiny details.
The close-up of Cairo’s feet belongs beside those portraits. A family photograph shows everyone together; a detail like this remembers how small Cairo was at this point. Both help tell the story when you look back through the photographs later.
The beige maternity dress and the cream baby outfit give the two sessions a shared warmth. The connection is the family itself, photographed first while waiting for Cairo and then with Cairo’s first month here to remember.
