A baby’s first year holds so many versions of the same little person. The quiet stretch of a hand, a sleepy expression, the curiosity that turns into reaching for everything nearby. These two sessions capture different chapters: Cairo at one month and Caiden celebrating six months.
One gallery is full of soft cream tones and tiny details. The other brings blue, gold, a sparkling crown and plenty of cake. Together, they show why I love photographing the small milestones as much as the big celebrations.
Cairo at one month: soft textures and tiny details
Cairo’s portraits keep the setting simple: white bedding, a cream knitted outfit and a wooden one-month plaque. With that gentle palette, the little things carry the photographs. The hood frames Cairo’s face, small hands rest against the knit, and open-eyed portraits sit alongside peaceful sleeping moments.

I also included a photograph focused on Cairo’s bare feet. Those details can be easy to overlook when you are choosing a favorite portrait, but they are part of the story too. A wider photograph records the whole outfit; a close-up brings you back to just how small those toes were.

A second knitted outfit adds a flag pattern while the white blanket keeps the background quiet. The one-month plaque gives the gallery a clear milestone without taking attention away from Cairo’s expressions.

Caiden at six months: blue, gold and a little cake
Caiden’s six-month celebration has a completely different energy. A blue and gold backdrop, big balloons and a half-birthday crown set the scene. The smiling high-chair portrait tells one part of the story; the cake photographs make room for curiosity, reaching hands and frosting-covered expressions.

The wider frames show the celebration around Caiden, including the decorated cake and the gold table covering. Moving closer shifts the attention to a glance toward the camera or a hand reaching forward. Both belong in the gallery: the details of the celebration and the personality at its center.

Some of my favorite photographs in this set are the close-ups near the end, with Caiden reaching toward the camera. You can see the frosting, the little crown and that direct connection with the lens. A milestone portrait does not need a perfectly still moment to be memorable.

Making room for your baby’s own story
A simple portrait and a colorful celebration can both feel personal. Choose an outfit or a small detail that matters to your family, and think about the photographs you want to remember: the whole scene, the expressions and the tiny hands and feet. You do not need to fit every idea into one frame.
If you are planning photos for your baby, tell me which milestone you would like to capture and what you have in mind. We can talk through the setting, timing and details together. Explore family photography or get in touch to plan your session.
